About the image

This print depicts a Piedmont Foxhound puppy who is relaxing in the kennel. He is dreaming of chasing a fox.  Rubbing season or Autumn hunting starts in September until the beginning of November when the formal hunting season starts. During this time, the inexperienced foxhounds are being trained to stay in a pack and work together to find the scent of the fox. Often the puppies are coupled with an experienced foxhound, who will teach the young foxhounds to work together and not wander off. The inexperienced foxes, called cubs, are being chased. This time is also used to get horse and rider in shape for formal hunting season.
